Roadmap

Staz.Tech published a public Early Access roadmap when The Undercut: Racing Manager opened in September 2026. Five headline updates, each roughly thirty to forty-five days apart, sit between the launch build and 1.0. Everything on that road is free to Early Access owners. 1.0 is expected to cost more for new buyers. Dates can slip. Discord votes can reorder the small items. The five headlines are the spine.

Play 0.5.4 now. Use this page to decide whether to wait for rain, touring cars, or other principals as opponents.

Already in Early Access

You already have a full weekend (practice, qualifying, race), a physics-driven 2D sim with dirty air and failures, a career with scouting, academy, contracts, R&D, sponsors, suppliers, a living world of news and TV, about seventy hand-curated circuits plus an optional procedural pool, a circuit editor, a mod editor, six languages, gamepad and Steam Deck support. That is the floor, not the ceiling. Getting started assumes this floor.

Update 1 — Weather and setup

Dynamic weather, a full rain system, and a reworked setup system. This is the patch that will rewrite race strategy. Until it lands, climate on the calendar (dry versus temperate, heat) is the thermal story and there is no wet compound to hoard. Do not plan a 2024-style intermediate masterclass; the sim cannot honour it yet.

Setup rework should give the Friday program more teeth than “run practice and take the baseline.” When it arrives, this wiki will retie practice notes on car development.

Update 2 — Era

A tech tree unlocking technologies from the early 1990s onward, plus an engine development overhaul. Today there is no tech tree; facilities are the car. Era will add a second axis: when a device exists in the world, not only how good your Aero shop is. Engine development overhaul will likely blur the current hard line that the Engine department does not touch the power unit. Treat current parts tier list advice as pre-era.

Update 3 — Playable Touring Cars

Touring already races in the world (CTC, CUP, and friends). You do not hold those seats yet. Update 3 makes that grid a career you can run: different cars, budgets, politics. If your fantasy is tin-tops rather than open-wheel, waiting is rational. If you already love the PFS pitwall, you can ignore this until it ships and still have a full game.

Update 4 — Playable GT

Endurance thinking and multi-class traffic. Same story as touring: GT already exists as a simulated world championship. Playable GT will demand longer stints, driver swaps or endurance logic, and traffic management the current two-compound sprint weekend only hints at. The pit strategy tool will need an endurance section when this lands.

Update 5 — Multiplayer

Manage against people instead of a simulation. The current build is single-player. There is no couch session and no online grid of principals today. When this ships, it will be a different product sitting on the same sim. Until then, every guide on this wiki assumes one human and an AI paddock.

Between the headlines

Continuous bug fixes, balance, quality-of-life, and Discord-driven extras that are not on the marketing list. 0.5.4 is the proof of that loop: a week of reports became the launch build. Use the in-game reporter. Join Discord from links.

Steam FAQ estimated about six months of Early Access. That is a plan, not a clock. If a headline slips, the career you are in still completes. Do not freeze a season waiting for rain unless rain is the only reason you bought the sim.

How to play the roadmap as a principal

  • Want the pitwall now → buy, follow getting started.
  • Want rain before you learn compounds → wait for update 1, still try the demo.
  • Want touring/GT as the main meal → wait for 3/4; the world already prints their news.
  • Want other humans → wait for 5; do not expect a hidden multiplayer toggle in 0.5.4.

This page will lag official news. When Steam publishes a named update, start at the updates hub and treat the developer post as canon.
