The Undercut Racing Manager Drivers, traits, and the academy
The people in the car — and the ones you have not un-blurred yet.
The Drivers hub is the people side of The Undercut: Racing Manager. Cars do not score points. Seats do. This category covers the lineup, the hidden stat system, personality traits, the academy, and how a generated market of hundreds of drivers stays readable.
If you need a hiring rubric, jump to the driver tier list. If you need the observation economy, jump to scouting. This hub is the map between them.
Three seats, not two
My Team holds Primary, Secondary, and Reserve. 0.5.3 added injuries: crashes can remove a starter for one to five Grands Prix. The reserve starts or you DNS. A two-name lineup is a 1990s romance; it is also how a championship disappears on a Sunday morning.
You can fire, promote, switch, and hire mid-season as well as in pre-season, with offer quotas. Persistent career stats — starts, wins, podiums, titles — follow drivers across seasons and transfers. World Data has Driver Career and Team Career tabs because the archive is permanent.
Happiness is a bar on the hub. Results, role, and factory all feed it. A fast unhappy driver still dumps mail on you. Read it.
Hidden until paid
INT, PAC, CON, ADA, STA, AGG, overall, salary bands, and most traits sit behind scouting knowledge. Fame does not. Signing the famous column is the most expensive way to buy average. The scouting guide is mandatory reading before you enjoy anything else in this hub.
0.5.4 tripled scouting Work Units per department level and rebalanced the market. Older advice that assumes a tiny pool of observations is stale. You still should not sprinkle the pool across twelve names.
Traits and car character
Personality sits on top of stats: tyre whisperers, late brakers, hot heads, and the rest of the launch set. Green traits are not free if they fight the car. A late braker on lockup-prone brakes is a crash report. Match people to the Car Character panel from car development. The long list lives on driver traits.
Academy and feeders
The Driver Academy is a separate building with junior and development slots, loans to PF2/PF3, and a cash gate to open. Graduates can take a race seat with an acceptance boost. The 18+ rule blocks the main series until they age; GP-10 can pre-agree the deal. Full loop: academy.
Two feeder series race under the championship with shared brands and a shared market. Eight more titles — touring, GT, regional cups — fill the world. They are not all playable yet. They still steal your drivers and print news. The roadmap says when touring and GT become seats you can hold.
Contracts and windows
Pre-season is the main shopping floor. GP-10 is the mid-season free weekend: next-season deals, poaching, renewals. In-season hires after a fire are capped. Refusals close doors for seasons. Pay drivers exist and they change the finance sheet more than the timing tower.
Sponsors care about results those drivers deliver. 0.5.4 shares brands across disciplines and grew the catalogue. A Principal who wanted podiums will not stay for your reserve’s happiness experiment.
Use this hub to keep the human systems in one place. Use race strategy to stop asking a C-tier hot head to undercut on Softs. Use getting started if you have not met your first lineup yet.
