The Undercut Racing Manager Tools for the pitwall
Requirements, Deck notes, and a Sunday strategy checklist.
The Tools hub is the practical drawer: can your machine run The Undercut, and what should you click when a rival pits. It is not a trainer and not a cheat sheet for hidden official formulas that still move in Early Access. For those, the in-game tooltips and Staz.Tech’s own wiki win.
Open the free demo and system requirements before you buy on a laptop or a Deck. Open suppliers when the engine, tyre, or fuel deal is the actual cliff. Open the pit strategy tool on a second monitor during a live race. Open sponsors and finance before you promise a Principal a podium. Deep theory stays in race strategy and car development.
What belongs here
Requirements and platforms. Windows, macOS, Linux, SteamOS. Tiny install. CPU matters more than a GPU brand. Deck support is real in 0.5.4 after the selection-ring fix. Details on the requirements page, bindings on controls.
Pit checklist. A/B/C ranking, Soft versus Hard, undercut/overcut, Safety Car exceptions, fuel DNFs. The tool page is short on purpose so you can scan it at 4× speed. Circuit labels that change those calls live on circuits.
Sponsors drawer. Principal versus Secondary, reputation gates, 0.5.4 shared brands, and the Marketing upgrade that pays for itself. The sponsors page is the chequebook; the factory order stays on car development.
Not here. Live driver databases (the grid is generated). Rain tyre calculators (weather is still on the roadmap). Multiplayer lobby browsers (single-player build).
How to use them with the rest of the wiki
New machine → requirements → demo via links → getting started.
New Sunday → pit tool → if the situation is weird, the long race strategy page.
New patch → updates hub → then check whether the pit tool’s puncture line still matches the notes.
Demo as a tool
The Steam demo is the best hardware test. It is also a systems test: if the desktop feels like homework after twenty minutes, the full career will not magically become lighter. If the 2D race view makes you pause to watch a three-car fight in dirty air, you have your answer. Install steps are on the official site, mirrored on the links hub.
Spreadsheets you should not trust
Community sheets that freeze scouting Work Units at 15 per GP are wrong for 0.5.4 (it is 45 at level 1). Sheets that treat letter A as a two-stop are wrong for every build that ranks by time. Sheets that name eternal S-tier drivers are wrong for a generated market. Use tier lists as rules, scouting as the process, and this hub as the Sunday handle.
When official formulas change, these tool pages will change. Until then, keep them thin, local, and honest about Early Access.
A Sunday kit
Print or pin three things: this hub, the pit strategy tool, and the controls page if you are on a Deck. Before the weekend, glance at system requirements only if the machine stuttered last time. During the weekend, the pit tool is the only tool that should be in front of the timing tower.
If a custom plan looks insane — three stops on a short venue, Soft into a known cliff — the tool will not stop you. The run-plan screen will still accept it. That is why the checklist starts with “read the compounds, not the letter.” 0.5.3 made Custom first-class; it did not make every Custom fast.
After a patch
Headline updates on the roadmap will break parts of the checklist. Rain will add a compound you do not have today. Era tech will change what “Engine department” means. Playable GT will stretch stints past the current Soft/Hard story. Until those land, do not invent wet tyres in a wiki widget.
0.5.4 already made one community sheet obsolete (scouting 15 Work Units per GP). Expect more. The honest tool is the one that tells you to measure practice on this car, this weekend, this factory — then act.
If you want a longer sit-down instead of a handle, the guides hub and the review are the reading list. Come back here when the lights are actually out.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for pitwall decisions, scouting, and career systems.
Is there an in-wiki calculator with live numbers?
No. Estimates move in Early Access. Use practice data and the pit strategy checklist instead of a fake precision widget.
Can I run this on Steam Deck?
Yes, with 0.5.4 input fixes. See system requirements and controls.
Where is the full undercut theory?
On race strategy. This hub is the short handle.
