The Undercut Racing Manager Updates and the launch build
0.5.4, the roadmap, and what still moves in Early Access.
The Undercut: Racing Manager entered Steam Early Access in September 2026. The build that opened the door is 0.5.4 — 0.5.3 plus a week of tester reports. This hub is the changelog map for fan pages on this wiki. Official notes always win; Staz.Tech posts them on the site, Steam, and Discord linked from the links hub.
Read the 0.5.4 launch notes for the build that opened Early Access. Read hotfixes 0.5.4-1 and 0.5.4-2 if you played launch week — punctures, GP-10 offers, infrastructure undo, and a World Data crash all moved after lights-out. Read the roadmap for weather, era tech, playable touring and GT, and multiplayer.
How to read Early Access versions
The 0.5.x line is a full career manager, not a vertical slice. Weekends run from free practice to flag. The world simulation is live. The honest part is the sentence on the Steam page: it is not finished. UI polish, economy balance, and missing headline systems are the point of the next six months, not a secret.
When a number on this wiki disagrees with an older official wiki draft, prefer:
- The Steam news post for that build.
- The 0.5.4 page if the topic is scouting output, sponsors, prize money, Deck controls, or factory display.
- In-game tooltips and the mail that arrived this turn.
Alpha 0.2 pages still circulate. They are useful for systems that did not change (Soft versus Hard, knowledge bands) and dangerous for systems that did (scouting Work Units per level).
What changed just before lights-out
0.5.2 put a ladder under the championship: feeders, weekend loadouts, pre-season testing, an R&D test track, balance.
0.5.3 put a world around it: eleven series, injuries, custom strategies, seventy hand-curated circuits, tyre and fuel rebalance, clickable timing tower, radio rebuild.
0.5.4 is the launch polish pass: high-refresh displays, Deck selection ring, scouting triple, shared sponsors, prize money up twenty percent, AI facilities frozen in-season, tutorial rebuilt onto pre-season, mod-pack isolation, save-on-exit.
0.5.4-1 / 0.5.4-2 are the first live hotfixes: native-resolution fullscreen, puncture margin, infrastructure spend only at End Turn, GP-10 three offers per turn, World Data crash, 4K UI scale, summer-break supplier walkout. Details on the hotfix page.
If you last played the demo, start with 0.5.4 notes, not with your muscle memory.
What this wiki will update when patches land
- Race strategy if compounds, weather, or Safety Car rules move.
- Car development if departments, traits, or Work Unit pools move.
- Scouting if the market or knowledge formula moves.
- Driver and parts tier lists after any economy pass.
- System requirements if Deck verification or OS notes change.
Between headline updates, expect bug-fix builds. 0.5.4 itself is that kind of build. Use the in-game reporter (it now ships the log and the right config) or Discord. Attach a save.
Saves and compatibility
A 0.5.3 career opens in 0.5.4. Staz intends to protect save compatibility forward from launch. Older alpha saves are a different story. When in doubt, finish the season you are in before opting into a major headline update, then keep a zip of the save folder. Closing the game saves as of 0.5.4, which removes one classic way to lose a night.
Price will rise toward 1.0. Early Access owners receive the updates. That is the Steam FAQ, not a wiki invention. Confirm the live price on the store page via links.
If you are brand new, ignore the version archaeology and go to getting started. Come back here when a patch notes file appears on Steam and you want to know whether your Soft-cliff instincts still apply.
Frequently Asked Questions

What version should I play?
The current Steam default, 0.5.4 or newer. Read the launch notes if you are returning from the demo.
Will my save work after a patch?
0.5.3→0.5.4 does. Forward compatibility is intended. Keep a backup before headline updates anyway.
