The Undercut Racing Manager Pit strategy checklist

This is the short pitwall page. Tape it to a second monitor. The long theory — why A is a ranking, how cliffs work, how custom plans size from practice — lives on race strategy. If you have not finished GP 1, go to getting started first.

Weather is not in the sim yet. This checklist assumes dry or temperate calendars in 0.5.4. When rain ships, see the roadmap and expect a rewrite.

Before lights out

1. Read the compound sequence on each card. Ignore the letter until you know what A actually is this weekend.
2. If a two-stop is missing, the estimator did not think it could pay back the extra pit. Do not invent one in Custom unless practice wear says Soft cannot live.
3. Fuel bar: starting load on the left, +N kg at stops. If practice was skipped, these numbers are guesses.
4. Match driver to plan: low CON → Hard-first; high INT attacker → the plan with the undercut window; injured Reserve → finish the race, do not hero.
5. Split strategies only when you understand team orders. Bind them in your head via controls.

Punctures ramp past 90% wear and are guaranteed at 100%. 0.5.4-1 rebalanced how often they fire: stints are planned with a margin so punctures come from racing variance, not from the strategy generator. Running dry is a DNF. There is no auto-pit for fuel. Details on hotfix notes.

Undercut / overcut

Undercut — they are falling off, you box onto a faster or fresher set, you jump them after their stop plus your out-lap. Press Pit yourself if the AI is slow. Do not box into a dirty-air train.

Overcut — your Hard is still in the window, they boxed, you stretch, you cycle ahead. Works in cool air when an early Soft stop would have been a cliff.

Out-lap is slow: cold tyres and brakes. High INT shortens the pain. If the out-lap dumps you in traffic, the undercut was a vanity pit.

Safety Car and emergencies

Safety Car in the window: cheap stop, unless you are in the points, the tyres can finish, and a rival is close behind — the launch AI may refuse so you do not gift the place. Backmarkers still box.

Box now if:

• fuel cannot reach the flag,
• wear is extreme with laps still to go,
• the car is damaged and you would rather control the retirement,
• a trait or puncture warning says the set is dead.

Stay out if:

• you are defending a points finish on tyres that will make it,
• the pit lane is a car park,
• you already have the undercut covered by the car ahead boxing.

Live taps

• Click the tower to follow the fight you care about.
• Overtake Push stays on until you turn it off.
• Stay out cancels a pending stop while they are still on track.
• Engine cooling is a lever; overheating now degrades instead of instantly bricking.
• Pause. Think. Unpause. The sim is not a reaction test.

After the flag

Repair the part that failed before you Improve the part that is pretty. If the cliff arrived early, check the tyre supplier and hidden Overheating traits on car development, not only your ego. If the driver caused it, read driver traits before GP-10.

That is the whole tool. When the situation is still weird, open the long race strategy page and slow the speed multiplier to 1× until the pit window is over.
