Game overview

A 1990s pitwall you actually command

Career desktop and pitwall screens in The Undercut Racing Manager

The Undercut: Racing Manager is a single-player 1990s motorsport management sim from Staz.Tech. You run a constructor from a Win95-style desktop: sign drivers whose stats stay hidden until scouting buys the truth, manufacture every part except the engine, and call pits on a physics-driven 2D race with dirty air, tyre temperature, and mechanical failures. Early Access opened in September 2026 on Steam as build 0.5.4. The living world fields eleven series, a shared driver market, and about seventy hand-curated circuits. There is no tech tree — infrastructure is the car. Races can be watched live or quick-simmed once you trust the run plan. Start with the first career guide, then use the driver tier list and parts tier list when the grid stops looking random. The pit strategy tool and system requirements pages sit beside a review and the official links hub. When a calendar card looks hostile, read circuits; when you want to draw a track, use mods; when a Principal is orange, open sponsors.

Quick start

New on the pitwall? Follow these steps before lights out.

  1. 1

    Start a Medium career

Open the first career guide before you pick Small. Medium budget leaves room for a bad weekend without skipping the climb.

  2. 2

    Scout before you sign

Fame is public; ability is not. Use the scouting guide and driver traits pages so a cheap contract with red traits does not wreck year one.

  3. 3

Build the car, not a tech tree

Facilities are the car. Follow car development and the parts tier list so Work Units hit Engineering, R&D, and hidden traits instead of random upgrades.

  4. 4

Read the compounds, not the letter

A/B/C on the run plan is a ranking. The race strategy and pit strategy tool pages explain undercuts, Soft vs Hard, and when a two-stop is even offered.

  5. 5

    Watch the launch patch

Build 0.5.4 rebalanced scouting, sponsors, and prize money. Keep the roadmap beside Discord so weather and era updates do not surprise you.

FAQ

Wiki FAQ

Quick answers for pitwall decisions, scouting, and career systems.

Is The Undercut Racing Manager in Early Access?

Yes. Steam Early Access opened in September 2026 on build 0.5.4, plus hotfixes 0.5.4-1 and 0.5.4-2. Weather, era tech, playable touring/GT, and multiplayer sit on the roadmap.

Where should a new team principal start?

Read the first career guide, then the controls page so the pitwall, gamepad, and Steam Deck bindings make sense before GP 1.

How do I undercut a rival?

Pit onto a faster compound while they stay out, then cover the out-lap. The race strategy guide and pit strategy tool cover the window, the overcut, and Safety Car exceptions.

Why are driver stats hidden?

Scouting work units reveal INT, PAC, CON, ADA, STA, and AGG. The scouting page and driver tier list explain knowledge bands and why fame is not talent.

Is the current build single-player?

Yes. The Early Access career is single-player. A later headline update plans multiplayer against other principals, listed on the roadmap.

What languages does the game ship with?

Steam lists English (full audio), French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. This wiki covers English, French, German, and Spanish.

Is this wiki official?

No. It is a fan resource. Confirm patches on Steam, the official site and Discord, and Staz.Tech's own player wiki.

Ready to take the pitwall?

Open the first career guide before you spend the starting budget, then keep the race strategy and roadmap pages beside the timing tower.
